TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Libya's eastern Es Sider oil export port has stopped working due to clashes nearby, an oil official said on Sunday.

Hundreds of British troops will be sent to Iraq in the New Year, Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has said.



The deployment - to help train local forces - will be in the "very low hundreds" but could also include a small protection force of combat-ready soldiers, he said.



About 50 UK troops are already training Iraqi and Kurdish forces fighting Islamic State militants in Iraq.



The Ministry of Defence said the move had not yet been formally approved.



An MoD spokesman said: "No decisions on troop numbers, units or locations have yet been made".

For the second time this year, a Russian military aircraft turned off its transponders to avoid commercial radar and nearly collided with a passenger jet over Sweden, officials have revealed.



Swedish authorities yesterday said a Russian military aircraft nearly collided above southern Sweden with a commercial passenger jet that had taken off on Friday from Copenhagen.



Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist told a local radio station: 'This is serious. This is inappropriate. This is outright dangerous when you turn off the transponder.'

A dozen sailors are suspected of viewing secretly recorded videos of their female shipmates undressing in a submarine shower over a period of 10 months, according to a new investigative report obtained by Navy Times.



While it appears only one sailor has been implicated in the videos’ production and distribution, 11 are suspected of watching them and failing to report the matter to leaderships, according to the Times.
